Marketing allows companies to get information about the current market and advertise to increase the sale of their products and services. Studying consumer behavior provides the companies with a clearer picture of the consumers' needs, and the buyers' interests and demands closely relate to the purchases that they are going to make. It would be in the company's advantage to study the market carefully and learn about the various influences that effect people's "shopping decisions" and use those influences to obtain more buyers. For example, it is often the case that companies would use the women's insecurity towards themselves to sell makeup and skin care products. As different demographics requires different things in life and absorb information in unlike manners, companies need to figure out ways to promote their services and products to the age, social class and culture backgrounds of the consumers. For instance, companies selling products that are geared towards teenagers may choose to promote their products on various social media website to get better results. All in all, companies can then use the information collected about their consumers in their advantage to adjust their strategies to better suit the taste of their consumers.
